The Senate will now consider budget reconciliation legislation that would cut employee rights and benefits, destroy unions, and threaten the foundation of our federal civil service system.
This Senate bill would:

Give the president broad authority to reorganize the government and fire countless federal employees with little to no oversight from Congress.

Undermine employee representation rights in the workplace.

Force new federal employees to choose between paying a 14.4% penalty from their salary to keep the civil service protections they are legally entitled to OR giving up those protections and becoming at-will employees, while still paying a 9.4% contribution — more than double what current employees pay (4.4%).
We need all NTEU members and our allies to take action:

Call your Senators’ offices (Capitol Switchboard: 202-224-3121) and ask them to oppose provisions in the bill that target their federal employee constituents!
